We made it!! December 26, 2006Posted by isabelleinnamibia in Out of the city.
Merry Christmas one and all!!
Just a quick post to let you know that we made it to Lake Malawi. After 5 days of driving, covering over 3000km, and 2 border crossings, we finally found paradise at the end of a dirt track. I am presently residing at Kande Beach, where it’s hot, sunny and cheap. I met up with other YfD mates from Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia here, where we have mostly been lounging on the beach, swimming, snorkelling, canoeing and, since it’s Christmas, eating and getting merry.
It’s been quite an adventure, with lots of stories to tell, including the answer as to why the chicken crossed the road. I’ll fill you in on my return to Namibia.
Tomorrow, the Malawian lot in their car, and Joost and I in Red Rachel will leave this paradise to recross Zambia, to make it to Livingstone by the 29th, to celebrate New Year’s at Vic Falls, where we will also be joined by other VSOs and friends from Namibia, Zambia and all over.
I hope you are all well and enjoying the festive season.
Better go, internet here is pricey. And I’m sunburnt so I’m off to moisturise and then canoe across to Kande Island for sunset.
Much love, I hope santa was good to you all.
